Cingular is now officially AT&T Wireless, but people still think of the wireless phone division as "Cingular" ( IMHO, shows how strong that brand was developed and why it made no sense to go back to ATT- but that's a different subject). Cingular developed a reputation both for its service and phone equipment offerings.
It is no surprise that people still seek out Cingular, even without a contract. The "new" AT&T continues to offer the previously Cingular branded "Go Phone." GoPhone by AT&T offers the same deal. Get a quality phone for cheap ( nice phones under 100 bucks). All the phones come with $10 in free airtime and you can choose the per minute pay as you go offer OR a no obligation plan package.
For no contract cell phones, the new AT&t still delivers the quality you expect from Cingular.
